Is it specified what Mang does in-game?

Maybe this has already been answered before or is super obvious, but it’s been bugging me. Some skills say that they generate a certain number of Mangs, but it’s not a keyword, status, anything. I’ve checked the passives of the things that generate Mang too and haven’t seen anything. What does generating Mang do? I know lore wise it enhances the strength of the attack, but is there some sort of game influence at all?
