Parking tips for Sudan Archives at Neptune Theatre (Seattle 02/14)
honestly i figured i'd share some parking knowledge for the sudan archives show at the neptune on 02/14 because the u-district can be a total mess especially on valentine's day. the venue doesn't have its own lot so you're basically on your own to find a spot among all the people out for dinner and the university crowd.
if you want to skip the stress of driving in circles i definitely recommend checking out Prked. it's this app where you can rent out someone's private driveway or a garage spot right by the theatre. it's usually way cheaper than the commercial garages and you get a guaranteed spot so you aren't stuck in traffic on 45th street while the show is starting. it's a super short walk and keeps your car off the street which is always a plus in this neighborhood.
the absolute best way to get there if you aren't driving is the light rail since the u-district station is literally on the same block as the venue. if you have to drive and don't use Prked there are a few decent pay lots nearby. the one at 4520 11th ave ne is really close and usually around five or ten bucks. russell hall garage on 15th ave or the lot on roosevelt way near 43rd are also solid backups but they might fill up fast on 02/14 because of all the date night traffic.
for street parking the meters are in effect until 8:00 pm. since the show starts at 8:00 pm you might only need to pay for like an hour if you get there around 7:00 pm and then it's free for the rest of the night. look for spots on the east side of 15th ave ne because those tow-away zones usually open up right at 7:00 pm and you can snag a spot if you're lucky. if you don't mind a walk you can sometimes find free street parking north of 50th street after 6:00 pm.
huge warning though do not park on brooklyn ave ne west of the theatre in that production loading zone or you will 100 percent get towed. also make sure you don't leave anything visible in your car because break-ins are pretty common around the ave. watch out for the residential parking zone signs too so you don't end up with a ticket. try to get there early since the university district is going to be packed for the holiday. hope this helps and have a great time at the show.
