I wanted to celebrate valentines, my boyfriend didn’t, now I don’t want to, but he does.
I know I’m going to sound childish but I just want to know if I’m being dramatic.
For the last 3 weeks me and my boyfriend have been planning valentines. We had been invited for a valentines dinner with my family. My boyfriend said no as he wanted it to be special as it’s our first. I had told him and showed him the dress I’m going to wear. (I haven’t gotten properly ready for the last 6 months so I was excited.
Yesterday on our way to work, valentines got brought up. He told me he’s going to work instead. We had plans to go shopping during the day, evening go for dinner and cinema. So already that annoyed me, then he started saying how he doesn’t care about valentines and he’d rather work, how he’s not romantic and couldn’t care less and we got into an argument about it.
So I told him, I just don’t want to do anything now. Then he got mad saying we’ll just go out for a little meal. Which I refuse to do if I’m honest. I feel like I begged him for it? Like it isn’t intentional and we had to argue in order to do something I wanted to do. I wanted it when I wanted it and now I don’t want it.
On our way home, again he said we’ll go have a little dinner. I snapped and said I don’t want to do anything as it makes me feel like shit I literally had to beg for it. He gave me the silent treatment up until this morning, I had given him his Valentine’s Day card and gift last night when we got home as valentines for us is clearly cancelled.
He mentioned again this morning about going out but I shut it down. I’m going to be extremely annoyed and upset if he gets me flowers as well, I can already sense it. I know I probably sound really childish but initially 3wks ago he kept going on about Valentine’s Day talking about maybe going away, or a full day of activities to him going work and then going for a little dinner somewhere, which probably would’ve been nandos. Bare in mind he doesn’t have to go work… he’s just choosing too.
I just hate that I’m always doing things for everyone and I’m never considered.
