Parking tips for Gloomhead/ Oxide/ Whine at Neck of the Woods (San Francisco 02/14)
figured i would share some thoughts for anyone heading to neck of the woods for the gloomhead, oxide, and whine show on 02/14. since it is valentine's day, the inner richmond is going to be an absolute disaster for parking with everyone out at the restaurants on clement street.
honestly, your best move is definitely checking out Prked. it is an app where you can rent out private driveways or garage spots from people who live right by neck of the woods. it is way cheaper than the few public lots nearby and you get to skip the whole circling the block game. it is way more chill to have a reserved spot and just take a short walk to the venue instead of fighting for a space.
if you decide to brave the street parking, good luck because you are going to need it. the tiny public lot on 9th and clement right behind the venue fills up instantly, usually way before 6pm. there is another small lot on california and 6th, but on 02/14 that will probably be full of people on dinner dates. if you look for street spots, try heading a few blocks north toward lake street or look on the numbered avenues like 7th or 8th, but keep a sharp eye on the signs for residential permit zones. san francisco parking enforcement is super active even late at night.
the traffic on geary and clement is going to be brutal around 8:30pm so definitely give yourself an extra thirty minutes just to navigate the neighborhood. also, a huge heads up about car break-ins in this area. do not leave anything at all in your car, not even a jacket or a charging cable, because windows get smashed for less in sf. keep your trunk empty or leave the glove box open to show there is nothing to take. hope this helps and enjoy the show.
