Is Valentine's Day outdated?

Recent studies seem to suggest that it is:

- 59% of British men think Valentine's Day is "pointless."
- A quarter of American couples haven't planned anything
- 52% of people in the UK admit to last-minute panic buying
- 48% of couples in the US say that just want "quality time" for V Day

What are your thoughts.. is Valentine's Day still relevant, or is it (or always has been) a marketing gimmick?
