Can you have Mania without depression?

I have BPD and was recently prescribed 300mg Venlafaxine

This dosage is above the Australian national guidelines and only given out at a practitioners discretion. The reason being that side effects such as high blood pressure and Mania are more likely to occur.

The only knowledge about mania I have is with Bipolar and so am curious if someone who does not experience depression can be manic?
