Anyone a victim to workplace bully who is also your boss?
I am. But I am resigning. It’s a small organisation, very small. Managed by a board of management. I am on doctor ordered stress leave now. I will resign after that. My problem is my resignation letter and account and impact statement will 100% be seen by the boss, and I’m so fearing retribution. I’m experiencing very complex and confusing emotions. I am in a slow moving tsunami of rememberings of all the other incidents and behaviours and words and inappropriateness. I can’t believe I was there for so long. I now have a psychological and moral injury and I need therapy. Everyone (the board and other colleagues) absolutely adore this person. To the point that it’s actually confusing as to why they would love them. I’m sure they will control the narrative and make it out as if I’m too sensitive and I’m abandoning them. I’m so angry and sad and confused and just grieving what was for the most part a nice job and I’m grieving the relationships I will miss. I want to protect the others and stop this from continuing. But I am also so fearful of what will happen when I do resign and the truth of why I’m not there will come out. This boss doesn’t really know how to be confidential, they share lots of information when they really shouldn’t about all sorts of things. The incident that crossed the line was very hurtful, and I walked out and have not gone back.
