Parking tips for KILL CUPID: A Self-Love Club Night at Chop Suey (Seattle 02/14)
hey everyone, figured i would share some thoughts on parking for the kill cupid night at chop suey on 02/14. since it is valentine's day on a saturday, cap hill is going to be absolute chaos and parking will be a total nightmare if you do not have a solid plan before you head out.
honestly the first thing you should do is check out Prked. it is an app where you can rent driveways or private garage spots from people living right near chop suey. it is way cheaper than the commercial lots that jack up their prices on holiday weekends and you get a guaranteed spot so you can skip circling the block for an hour. it is just a short walk to the entrance and way less stressful than fighting for a meter.
if you decide to try your luck with other spots, the lot at 1401 east madison street is the closest but it fills up fast. there is also the diamond parking lot a959 and the ipm lot 22 nearby but expect to pay a premium on a saturday night. the garage under broadway market at 401 broadway is another decent choice since it is usually open until 3:00 am on weekends which is great if you plan on staying late. there are a few other garages like the one at 1408 east union street or the reo flats garage at 1525 14th ave that are usually safer than street parking but they can get pricey.
for street parking, just a heads-up that metered spots on the hill usually go until 10:00 pm on saturdays. since the show starts at 9:00 pm you will still need to pay for at least an hour through the paybyphone app. look out for the blue signs with the after 5 symbol because those often have a strict 3-hour limit even late at night and parking enforcement is everywhere on valentine's day. stay away from the residential rpz zones like zone 4 or 32 unless you have a permit because you will 100% get a ticket or towed.
one little trick is to look for the yellow loading zones on the main streets like 12th or madison as most of those open up for free parking after 6:00 pm but you really have to read the signs to be sure. traffic on madison can be a mess with the new bus lanes and recent construction so try to get there at least thirty minutes earlier than you think you need to. avoid pike and pine if possible and try coming in from the south side to avoid the worst congestion. hope this helps you guys out and have a blast at the club.
