Which bike for riding through parks, wood trails and coastal paths with kids

Hi

I want an entry level bike that is comfortable enough to ride around parks, woods and coastal paths with the kids (kids on their own bikes not on mine). The kind of bike that would be good to take on uk holidays where you want to do a safe exercise ride to a pub! I might be on roads some of the time but don’t need to be fast. I’m afraid of really heavy bikes as struggle up hills with them. Can you suggest some good options for me please? I’ve been recommended cube, trek, specialised, Scott etc.
