Palliative NP to LPCC v LMFT

I'm heavily considering a career change, I'm currently a palliative nurse practitioner, and my ultimate goal is to be a mental health professional who assists individuals with stress, coping, grieving, perhaps with a specialization for those undergoing cancer or other acute medical conditions, also would like to be a resource for other healthcare professionals, cause lord knows, most of us are so past burnt out. I'm in CA (it seems LMFT is more preferred/common here?), and plan to enroll sometime next year or 2028, but I'm unsure if LPCC or LMFT is the route to go? The future goal is to live for some time out of CA, likely VA or MD, so I'm sure that should go into the consideration of which degree to pursue. For additional context, I'm not doing the post master's certificate in psychiatry, because I don't want to spend the next part of my working life, prescribing medications and monitoring side effects, and from what I've heard, and read, the PMHNP would be primarily medication management, with not much opportunity to bill/charge for therapy, and the programs don't spend much time developing therapy skills.
