It's been almost a year since I've had a Littlespace to cultivate and a Little to be housed within it.

There was something so rewarding for me about making sure she always felt secure, helping her tie her shoes and dress, gently guiding her at the mall towards places and stores that would suit her, watching her eyes light up when I said she can have something she wanted, and the gentle resignation when I said no, and explained why. Feeling her physically relax when we got home, and she could sink back into Littlehood without fear of condescension.

The sheer feminine vulnerability of having someone who says "I trust you to make the right decisions and take care of me. I will listen, even when I'm being a brat, and allow you to do what needs to be done for my wellbeing and happiness," cannot be understated. Knowing that the moment she pulled on one of my shirts - several sizes too big for her - she had slowly eased into a world of comfort, enveloped in my warmth and scent, became the great joy of my life.

And now, my life is empty. There are no more stuffies on the bed, to fight with over space on top of the covers. No more colouring books in my study, no paint-by-numbers, no onesies or oodies draped over the back of my armchair. I come home to silence and emptiness, and I notice the absence of a welcoming warmth once more, like an icicle to the chest.
