Building emergency liquidity infrastructure for crypto & financial markets — Looking for technical co-founder/CTO (full-time, equity)
The problem in one sentence:** When markets crash, liquidity vanishes exactly when everyone needs it most — and there's no infrastructure to handle that.
Think about what happened with FTX, the UK Gilt crisis, or SVB. These weren't insolvency problems. They were liquidity problems. Healthy assets got dumped at panic prices because there was no structured way to access emergency cash. Banks pull credit lines when you need them most. Market makers disappear. The result? Fire sales, contagion, unnecessary bankruptcies, and eventually taxpayer-funded bailouts.
**What we're building:**
LIQYRA is a liquidity-as-a-service infrastructure. The core idea is simple but hasn't been done: organize emergency liquidity *before* a crisis hits, not during one.
Three integrated pieces:
**Liquidity Subscriptions** — Clients (crypto funds, institutions, corporates) pay upfront for guaranteed access to liquidity with defined SLAs, collateral terms, and response times. Think of it like an insurance policy, but instead of paying out after damage, it delivers actual liquidity when stress hits.
**Liquidity Pools** — Institutional capital (pension funds, asset managers, sovereign wealth funds) is pre-committed into segregated pools. We manage allocation rules, not the capital itself.
**Controlled Fire Sale Facility** — This is the core innovation. When selling is unavoidable, we run it through professional auction mechanisms (time-decay auctions, sealed-bid emergency auctions) instead of letting panic dictate prices. Circuit breakers, whitelisted buyers, settlement guarantees, full audit trails. Fire sales happen in every crisis — the question is whether they're chaotic or controlled.
**Why start with crypto?**
Crypto is where liquidity stress is most frequent, most visible, and least served. Billions in daily liquidations on perpetual futures alone. No lender of last resort. No structured fire sale process. It's the perfect proving ground before expanding into traditional finance and eventually systemic infrastructure (think clearing houses, central banks).
**Where we are:**
I've developed the full business model, product architecture, revenue model, and go-to-market strategy. The plan has been validated against real-world crisis data (UK Gilt crisis, SVB, FTX) and benchmarked against existing financial market infrastructure economics. We have a clear path to €2M revenue in Year 1, break-even by Year 2-3, and €245M by Year 5 based on conservative market penetration assumptions (0.5% of SAM).
Seed funding target is €500K. 60% goes to team, 25% to MVP/tech, 15% to legal and compliance.
**What I bring:**
15+ years managing complex, high-stakes operational environments — security, facility management, multi-stakeholder coordination. I built the entire LIQYRA concept from the ground up: the infrastructure model, the controlled fire sale mechanisms, the phased go-to-market, the regulatory strategy. I'm the systems thinker and operator. What I need is someone who can build the engine.
**What I'm looking for in a CTO co-founder:**
Someone who's built (or meaningfully contributed to) high-availability financial infrastructure — exchange backends, clearing/settlement systems, DLT-based platforms, or similar. You should be comfortable with real-time risk engines, auction mechanism design, and integrating with both crypto settlement rails and traditional payment systems (SWIFT, FedNow). Experience with regulatory-grade architecture (audit trails, zero-trust, multi-region deployment) is important since we'll be operating in a compliance-heavy space.
This is a full-time, all-in co-founder role with significant equity. Based in the Netherlands, but open to remote within compatible time zones (EU preferred).
**Why this is worth your time:**
This isn't another DeFi protocol or crypto trading app. This is infrastructure — the kind that becomes invisible in good times and indispensable in bad times. The market for financial market infrastructure services alone is $278B and growing 8% annually. Every crisis proves the need exists. No one has built this layer yet.
If you've ever watched a market meltdown and thought "there has to be a better way to handle this" — that's exactly what we're building.
DM me or drop a comment if you want to talk. Happy to share the full executive plan.
