episode 5 spoilers thread
First of all, I was not present for the episode 5 screening, I did not sign any nda, this is all info that I've gathered from twt or here. Second, take this with a grain of salt because the only confirmation we have is from people who attended the netflix house screening, nothing is fully verified. Finally, I may have gotten confused and mixed up some details after reading so many different comments, so please correct me if you think I got something wrong.
-
!Benophie get plenty of screen time, both together and individually, the side plots are well-balanced.!<
-
!The episode is over an hour long, but not sure by how much!<
-
!No lady in silver reveal yet, it will probably be in episode 6.!<
-
!The whole mistress proposal is resolved within this episode, Sophie confronts Benedict in the study and definitively rejects his proposal because 1) she is a maid/of a much lower class 2) she is a virgin 3) she doesn't want to be a glorified courtesan. Ben then seems regretful.!<
-
!Benedict doesn't push the whole mistress thing like he does in the books, he's a lot more respectful.!<
-
!Can confirm: most of the episode is Benedict grovelling and yearning🤭.!<
-
!Franchaela have a lot of good scenes together in this episode, including a significant one with tiktok edit-worthy material.!<
-
!Francesca tries to set Michaela up with someone else, but it doesn't work out.!<
-
!John doesn't die in this episode, but there are signs that he is unwell and stressed. Since it's confirmed that Francesca has more than one set of mourning clothes, pretty sure John is the one who dies by the end of this season😭.!<
-
!Francesca lights a candle in the night and searches for John, she finds him sitting and conversing with Michaela, like in the still netflix posted.!<
-
!Araminta realizes that her shoe clips are missing and becomes convinced Sophie stole them.!<
-
!Varley finds out that Sophie is working for the Bridgertons. She is forced to reveal this to Araminta when Araminta threatens her position.!<
-
!Pen writes about men in the ton having mistresses and showing them off, presumably after Colin tells her about what he saw/heard in the club. She does not specifically name anyone, just comments on the topic in general. She discusses this with Portia and Colin before publishing, and they support her.!<
-
!After seeing this, Hiscox is a coward and ditches his mistress, the one who's an actress. The mistress goes and confronts Pen, saying she is socially ruined and left with nothing.!<
-
!Pen feels frustrated and starts rethinking LW. She requests that the queen let her stop the column and write about topics other than gossip, but the queen says no.!<
-
!Colin has a food and cheese date with the Featherington husbands.!<
-
!There's a really cute scene where Colin gives Gregory love advice, and Ben overhears it. This is probably the clip from the trailer where Colin says, 'You must be brave. You cannot let fear stop you from letting your heart speak.'!<
-
!Cressida returns, having married the Penwood heir, and she plans on throwing a pink ball, which will likely take place in episode 6. !<
-
!Eloise tries to make up with Hyacinth by gifting her a pink quill pen, but Hyacinth gets mad at her lack of sincerity. !<
-
!Violet pushes Eloise back into the marriage mart because she believes Eloise isn't fulfilling her role in Hyacinth's lessons. Eloise is approached by a few suitors at the Bridgerton ball, but is her usual uncomfortable self.!<
-
!Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish is the song covered during the Bridgerton ball scene, where Benedict and Hyacinth have a kind of father-daughter dance together. (their dance was a clip in the trailer)!<
-
!In the middle of the Bridgerton ball, Sophie finds out from footman John that it is the Penwoods who moved in next door. She panics and runs upstairs.!<
-
!Benedict tries to follow her, but Violet stops him and tells him to leave her alone cuz it's inappropriate. Ben gets angry and lowkey yells at Violet for flaunting around Marcus, even in front of Gregory and Hyacinth. He leaves her stunned and goes after Sophie.!<
-
!This is the end of the episode, where Benophie confess their feelings for each other, and they make love in his bed while the ball is happening downstairs.!<
-
!Too Sweet by Hozier is the song covered during the Benophie sex scene (he's very gentle with her).!<
-
!Benedice performs oral sex on her, and then they also have penetrative sex, which brings Sophie's pinnacle count to a total of 3.!<
-
!No, Benedict does not take any precautions like pulling out (not that that actually does anything), so idk if Sophie might get concerned about pregnancy later??!<
-
!Benedict's confession is said to be absolutely beautiful and on par with the Queen Charlotte one, he tells her he loves her like 4-5 times.!<
-
!The closing shot is them reaching their 'pinnacle' together.!<
Thank you to everyone who watched the screening and so graciously shared spoilers with us. Again, keep in mind that none of these are fully verified. I'm sorry if I misunderstood anything💗.
