Where should a father change his young daughter in malls or pools?

I keep seeing the same issue in malls, pools, and leisure centres, and I’m curious how others feel about it.

Scenario:

A dad is out with his young daughter. She needs to be changed, helped with the toilet, or prepped for swimming.

But:

\- He can’t go into the women’s changing room

\- The men’s changing room isn’t appropriate for a little girl

\- And many places still don’t have a “family” option

So what exactly is he supposed to do?

It feels like such a basic need, yet so many public spaces still rely on awkward improvisation. Parents shouldn’t have to choose between breaking rules, making others uncomfortable, or changing their kid in a hallway.

What would actually solve this:

\- Family changing rooms with a door

\- Unisex parent‑child toilets

\- Individual cubicles inside larger changing rooms

\- Clear signage so parents know where they’re allowed to go

This isn’t about “men shouldn’t be near women” or “women shouldn’t be near men.” It’s literally about parents needing a safe, private space to care for their kids.

I’m genuinely curious how others handle this, especially dads with daughters or mums with sons.

Do you think malls and pools should be required to offer family changing rooms?
