Hey everyone,

I’m dealing with a really strange issue with my 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid LX and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this or knows what might cause it.

Problem:

Sometimes the car won’t start, but it’s not a dead battery situation. The car powers on normally, dash lights come on, AC and radio eventually turn on (after a few seconds delay), but the car won’t go into READY mode. The start button stays green, and the car won’t actually start.

Important details:

	•	12V battery is only 3 months old and tested good

	•	Alternator tested good

	•	Brake lights work normally

	•	Doesn’t start even if shifted to Neutral

	•	No warning messages on dash

	•	Issue is intermittent, sometimes works perfectly for days

	•	Dealer checked it but couldn’t reproduce it and said no problem found

	•	Happens randomly (not temperature-dependent)

One thing I noticed:

When pressing the start button, sometimes there’s a delay of a few seconds before accessories (radio/AC) turn on, which seems abnormal.

What I’m trying to figure out:

Has anyone seen this before on a Kia hybrid?

I'd really appreciate insight before I keep chasing guesses at the dealership.
