the withering heights movie sucked

i went in without having read the book, my bf and i watched it for valentine’s day as it was one of the only 3 movies playing, it was AWFUL, i swear i have never felt so frustrated while watching a movie in my life, my cortisol was constantly high, the world building was severely lacking, and the movie lacked the depth necessary to make it palatable. I’ve come out asking myself what the point of wasting 2 and a half hours on watching that was, no commentary was made, no conclusion was reached, i didn’t even get to watch nelly suffer or feel any guilt for her actions, overall i did not enjoy it a bit, i was considering leaving the movie early because i just couldn’t stand to keep watching everything go wrong with no real depth or explanation to make the viewer care outside of getting frustrated and annoyed
