Does the game ever go into the origins of the Exaltists before their scrubbing from the narrative?

I am currently playing Bury Your Tears In the Past chapter and one of the most annoying parts about the story is how they completely waste giving a bit of backstory on the Exaltists as a group. We know Vivian was taken in by them and we know they are essentially a doomsday cult but that's it. We are never told how and when they were formed. Unless I missed something in the previous chapters, does the game give us some background on the Exaltists before their removal in the main story during Season Two?
