Not the A-hole

So I(14, almost 15) and my grandpa(64) was having a conversation at our dinner table. I mentioned something about how I wanted to ask the local grocery store if they were hiring, as I’ve been looking for a small first job for a little while. Almost as soon I started talking about it, he started another one of his lectures(he’s been doing this anytime I bring up picking high school classes or college or getting a job) about how no matter what, I’m going to have to pick a profession that won’t be taken by AI. About how I should probably go into tech, or some type of medical field. And every time he’s done this, I’ve stayed quiet and let him do his “philosophy” lesson. Except this time.

This time, I cut him off mid sentence and was like, “I know! I know! I know! Ya know, pappy, we’ve had this same conversation what, 10 times? I know that AI is going to take all the jobs. But for once, could you just let me delusional think about what I WANT to do instead of becoming a doctor, or joining some tech field, or some shit like being a laborer? And I know you think you’re doing well by me, because you have 64 years of experience, and when teenagers talk about their future, parents(or in my case grandparents) are supposed to guide them to pick the right choice, but could you please stop talking about this and let me think about what I wanna do instead of only doing what’s left over?”

And after I said that, he got really quiet and just said “Fine. I’ll stop talking about this to you.”

Now I kinda feel bad because I know he thinks he’s doing a good job trying to prepare me for the future, but all he’s doing is reminding me of how bad my future might be. Am I the asshole?
