Looking into the Phoenix area from Charlotte, is this the right place for us?
Weather- yes we know it’s going to be ungodly hot in the summer, we also have pretty crazy summers here in Charlotte 95+ degrees with high humidity but also cold winters which we dislike. We love the heat and are willing to put up with hot summers for beautiful weather the rest of the year.
Scenery- I’m originally from ABQ and have always been fascinated by the desert landscape, im excited for the desert sunrises and sunsets. I love the fact mountain peaks are visible all around the city. We have also heard you can go a couple hours north and be in more forestry mountains. Also the wildlife out there is crazy.
Outdoor activities- we love to be out in nature whether it’s hiking, camping, skiing or whatever. I know skiing is a few hours north but it’s still available. Hiking seems to be available within 30 minutes from wherever you are is this true? We do worry about about swimming but the Mexican beaches are around 3 hours away which is just as far as we are from the NC coast currently, Any other swimming areas around?
Location- we think it’s pretty cool that we are within 6 hours of major city’s like LA, San Diego, Vegas, ABQ (not so major), Puerto Peñasco Which makes for great long weekend trips if we want to drive.
Airport- I work at the airport and also am a avid plane spotter( yes I know I’m weird), from what I know about Sky Harbor is it’s a efficiently ran airport with plenty of flights around the country it also seems like I can watch planes from plenty of areas even when I’m hiking.
Yes I know this was long, yes i know Phoenix is hated in this sub. But for a couple like us does this sound like the right move for us?
