Why do breakthrough tech innovations mostly originate in the USA while India quickly shifts to adopting trends?
I’ve noticed that many breakthrough technologies and platforms originate from the United States — whether it's companies like Google, Microsoft, Meta, or products like WhatsApp and Instagram.
But in India, it feels like we quickly jump onto trends once they become popular globally.
For example:
• When Blockchain became popular, suddenly we had Blockchain leaders, architects, developers, and influencers everywhere.
• Now with AI, we again see AI leaders, AI architects, AI developers, AI summit speakers, etc.
I’m genuinely curious — why does our ecosystem seem more focused on adopting and scaling technologies rather than inventing or pioneering them?
Is it due to funding, risk appetite, education system, market priorities, or something else?
Are we primarily becoming strong users and implementers of global technology instead of creators of foundational innovation?
Would love to hear perspectives from people working in tech, startups, research, or policy.
