Question regarding Cross Progression

I've been playing DBD since 2020 on my PC and have made the majority of my progress on there, but I've recently heard about this cross progression DBD has introduced and have a question regarding my PS5 account.

Would I be able to link my PS5 and PC account without causing any issues to my PC account? I have some Auric Cells and a couple Cosmetics on my PS5 which would be cool if on my PC account also, but it isn't enough to warrant me messing up my account at all. Any information on this would be helpful, thanks!
