The Throat of the World on Xbox--HELP!

I've tried in first person and third person. I've looked at the Greybeards when being taught the shout. I've walked over the glyphs as each appeared. I've aimed the shout directly at the white pointer, and at different points below it finally shouting into the ground. Can anyone who played the game on Xbox please explain how they got past the storm/wind barrier?
