Phd in physics

Seeking advice-academic

I saw a few rejected notifications about phd in physics program on gradcafe and a few of them write on notes, due to ongoing funding uncertainties, UNH will not be able to admit new students to the physics PhD program for fall 2026. How trustworthy is this information? I also applied to this university but through an alternative pathway without creating an application portal and was offered to send all documents to the university's email address. The university previously told me in an inquiry email that due to current funding uncertainties, they won't give an application fee waiver but they made me an alternative pathway for my application and told me that if I am selected they will pay my fee and create the portal for the formality. But seeing a few notifications about the funding freeze, I won't hope I will get. I did not get an update on my application due to not being recorded in their portal. In this case, what should I do now?
