Before you all come at me with "it's always been like this" or "it's because of the new generation," I recommend reading the whole post.

First of all, no, I'm not complaining about the new animation or the season itself. I think it has some great episodes, and the animation looks really good—more than good, EXCELLENT! But if you've seen the previous seasons of Gumball, you'll notice that the series is very different. You could say that's because of the change in music director, and believe it or not, music can have a big influence on the show.

I also talk about the writing in many episodes. Before, in Gumball, the jokes were mostly puns or pop culture references, but now everything is so over-animated that you completely forget about the jokes. There are hardly any jokes using puns and that kind of thing. If you don't believe me, I challenge you to watch an episode from season 3 or 4 with your eyes closed and then do the same with season 7. You'll see it's not the same. I could watch the earlier seasons with my eyes closed and still laugh my head off at the jokes as long as they still made sense, but now there are so many physical jokes and animation jokes that there are hardly any jokes that I can actually laugh at with my eyes closed without them losing their meaning.

Now, going back to the animation, no, the fact that it looks fabulous doesn't mean it's suitable for the series, especially since throughout the seasons the show had a good balance with the animation to the point that you'd see something like this and assume it was Gumball. Now, it's different. It seems like the directors took the idea that this is practically a new series so seriously that they decided to make this strange change in animation. I repeat, it looks very fabulous, but it's not the type of animation Gumball would use. I can't believe that in such casual situations, Gumball has to make at least three exaggerated faces in a single scene. In the previous season, they also made faces, but they did it at appropriate moments or where it worked well. For some reason, they even put them in completely unnecessary moments. And here I ask myself, is this really Gumball? Because it seems like a completely different show.
I also want to take this opportunity to talk about the UNNECESSARY redesign of Rocky. I never liked Rocky's first design; by season 3, he had finally taken shape. All this only for them to completely ruin him in this season by making him thinner and giving him smoother hair. I don't know if they thought this would look good, but no, it doesn't look good at all; it looks terrible.

In conclusion, as a series, it's honestly very good, extremely good, with memorable and somewhat sweet episodes. Of course, there are some really bad ones, but I'll leave those for another post. But as a Gumball season, no. This is definitely not a Gumball season. Thank goodness they presented it as a new series because otherwise, it would have been the worst season of all for me. So far, almost no episode feels like Gumball. I can't believe the only three episodes that feel like Gumball are the first, the third, and the last. But that's all; that's my opinion. If you have a different opinion, you're free to say so, RESPECTFULLY, of course.

I miss when Gumball's animation wasn't so over-animated
