Games like the mine/exploration part of stardew Valley?

My son has been playing stardew valley (5). Has played pokemon sword/diamond and had fun.

He ignores most of stardew bar the exploration/mine and wondering if anyone had any recommendations of games that are similar to that part? Feeling of progression and unlocks maybe helpful!

Thanks
