Red Blade question

So, I'm a Destiny pvp pacifist. Rarely play crucible. I like teamwork instead of battles. And I hate when I get invaded and they cheese it to stay in and wipe all our revives away. That being said, I'd like to get the red praxic blade. I've started doing this thing where I invade, but instead of fighting the guardians, I start dropping falcons and behemoths for them to use, then emoting and keeping away. That way they don't lose revives, get some free vehicles to use, and won't get another invader while I'm there. Some teams still kill me, but it's ok, cuz I just feed them more. Some guys figured it out and multi-player emote with me lol.

I've seen that the red blade is a random drop from invasions, but I'm not sure if "unsuccessful" invasions can drop it too. Like if I get a double cross and let them kill me quick to leave, or if a team wipes me out. Is the drop from ANY invasion, or do I need to kill for it?

And just to be clear, I'm not doing this because I *won't* play it as intended, I just like to be a contrarian and make some people happy. I play for fun, not for competition.

Also, not looking to hear "just kill them", etc. I enjoy my way, and get a chuckle from being a friendly enemy.
