Indie music Scene?

I’m would really love to move to Vermont. It reminds me so much of upstate New York where I’m from. The only qualm is that I am currently living in Jersey with my boyfriend who is a music production. We stay in Jersey because there is so much music in the area/we are so close to NYC where the music scene is bumping. Guys, where is the indie music scene? I want my bf to move here but he would need a job in music production. I have been looking around at flyers around the area. I’m not seeing a lot of Indie music/email music/alternative music populating in the poster boards. What is the biggest music scene in this area and where is it located.
