If you are in Canada, do not subscribe to the physical Economist
I'm currently coming up to the end of my subscription. I signed up to get weekly, physical news, so I could still be aware of what is going on in the world without checking the internet every day, and maybe get off the screen a little bit.
That doesn't work when issue arrive weeks late at best. Sometimes issues don't show up at all. On a good week, last week's issue - written the week before - is only a week late. So I'm really up to date on what was going on in the world 2 weeks ago, at best. Most of the time, it's even later. I regularly get issues out of order.
This should be basic stuff for a self-proclaimed newspaper.
It has been incredibly disappointing, and a waste of money. I'm putting this here so others don't make the mistake I did. I will not be renewing, and the only reason I stayed with them this long is because of The Economist's famously hostile customer support. When my first issue took almost two months to arrive, instead of refunding the time when they did not deliver the service I promised, they sent me 4 back issues, 2 weeks later.
tldr: Do not pay for The Economist in Canada.
