After trying almost every dream journal app, here’s the one that worked for me.

I’m a 39-year-old woman and I’ve been journaling my dreams for as long as I can remember.

I’ve always remembered my dreams vividly, often several per night (which has kept me tired most of my life 🤭). I started writing them down around age 10 after my therapist recommended it, and since then I’ve collected a lot of physical journals.

Now we have smartphones, and naturally, dream journal apps came into the picture.

Being a hardcore dream journalist, I’ve always been on the lookout for an app that could actually satisfy my needs (this is something really important to me).

Over the years, many apps have been released… and I’ve tried almost every one I could find on Android and iOS 😅. I’m picky, so finding the right one has always been tough.

About four years ago I discovered DreamKit, and after using it just one day I fell in love — especially because it was 100% free 💙. But I kept exploring new releases, and most apps either didn’t meet my needs, or required payment for even basic functions.

For example, Oniri has a beautiful UI, but unfortunately most of the important features are premium. Many apps look nice but lack useful functionality. I even check for new apps constantly (it’s like a hobby by now lol 😂).

Then, in September 2024 (if I remember correctly), I installed a new app called DreamMuse, and it immediately impressed me. It’s the main reason I’m writing this post, because I rarely see it recommended, even though it’s genuinely amazing.

In short, DreamMuse feels like DreamKit enhanced, with the best of Oniri added in. It has everything I was looking for:

• The AI learns from your dreams, sees patterns, and connects similarities with past entries.
• Most features are free, while the subscription unlocks unlimited auto-tagging and interpretations.
• Developers are extremely responsive: Every time I suggested improvements, they actually added them 💙.

For me, DreamMuse has helped understand my dreams more than any other app.

I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone looking for a serious dream journal app. Of course, this is just my personal experience. What works for me might not work for everyone.
