WIBTAH or no?
My friend who we'll call Blue, opened a groupchat without me to speak about our private discussion regarding a boundary I was drawing in the friendship. said boundary was this,
" For my own mental health I'm withdrawing a bit for awhile. I may not be around much. You're still free to message. But I'm going to be doing my own thing. "
This is because for two years they've pretty much quiet quit but for friendships.
- Disappearing in the middle of a conversation for hours when upset instead of asking for space
- When we did message it was very one sided.
- Literally would not tell me when I overwhelmed them.
- Or if I did something that ticked them off.
At first I asked if they were okay, and if they needed anything (space, someone to talk to or a distraction). They said they didn't need anything. (Keep in mind I didn't ask all ghe time. Just every couple of months).
Now. The groupchat. They immediately opened this after my first message with two of our mutual friends. One of those friends messaged me with screenshots. They talked about how Blue is afraid I'm making things up and that I'm essentially lying. That they're confused on where this came from even though I've brought it up repeatedly. Text proof of that is in my phone. They later admitted they remembered talking about it in dms.
I plan on confronting Blue about it. Honestly I may just end the friendship. WIBTAH? (Also sorry if this is a mess but I'm just looking for judgement here.)
