I thought today (V-Day) would hurt more...
Then I remembered Valentine's Day 2024 (when we were still together) how he used the excuse of starting a new job/shadowing/riding along with his mentor as the reason he "had no time" to get anything.
I get how that comes off, but I'm not about to spew some materialistic social media shit about how men should spoil their women, etc. I was previously married to a man who didn't work 10 out of our 15 years married. I don't need someone to pay my bills..
What I wanted was someone who took 5 minutes out of his day to stop by a grocery store or even a street corner to show a small token of affection. Also, I don't believe Valentine's Day is just for women and have always bought my S.O. something for Valentine's Day as well.
Anyway, just wanted to share for all of those for whom this day weighs heavy on your heart and makes you feel lonelier than ever as you see couples celebrating. I know how much it hurts, but one day you'll have an epiphany and realize it's better to be single, (sometimes) lonely and have peace, than to feel lonely while in a relationship.
