Could you share tips on your tplo surgeries and recovery?
Hi, I have 2 dogs. Chachi f4 and Arturo m2 (deaf). Chachi has torn both her cranial cruciate ligaments and due to her age and activity level, will need to get TPLO done. I have consulted the vet about recommendations or pros and cons of doing one leg at a time vs both and waiting to hear back. I would like some insight into how you handled recovery. Mine are both very active and with Arturo being deaf he will already be put on some meds to calm his anxiety while she's in surgery and while they have to be apart to prevent her from getting too active. There are fences in the house that they can see each other through but I'm expecting this to be a challenge since their bond is very tight. For those of you who might not know, deaf dogs usually have separation anxiety that can make them physically ill. Were there activities that helped you get through recovery more easily? And what was your routine to supervise your dog? I'm thinking some puzzles and treats to wear her mind off and get her to rest since she won't be able to run around as usual. The vet asked if I have a kennel and I do and she is fine with using it for short periods of time. Thankfully I work from home but do have to attend in person events or here and there. Did you have support at home to watch your pup and at what point in recovery did you start notice their movement was okay to let them start doing their thing. This is probably vague because I got the news recently so I do apologize. I just want to ensure I can prepare adequately for this long term recovery period. Thanks in advance
