If/When war breaks out against the U.S., where would they hit us?

I live down the street from the U.S. Capitol and increasingly I've been feeling anxious about living in D.C. should Iran (or others) strike. People keep telling me it's more likely that our bases would get hit, but what do you think? Where and when would war be likely?
