Im still using my pre armor 3.0( the armor before edge of fate changes), how much am I missing out?

Recently got back into the game. Should I stop what am I doing and be collecting new armor sets? Ive just started the campaign. I had a nice consecration build before I left and have been using that(spirit of inmost and syntho setup).
