Three days after biolift surgery

Finally I have hope this could be all over.

It's been a year and a half since my first abscess. I had three surgeries for different abcceses and on the third one, came back home with three setons installed.

I have had the setons in place from last August untill now and daily life was something. Drainage, pain, physical restrictions like no biking etc.

Two weeks ago, I had MRI and it confirmed I had a fistula with three branches.

I had a biolift surgery on Wednesday. It's like a lift surgery but they implant a piece of biological tissue in between the muscles after they cut the fistula. Had to do some research online to really understand the technique as I did not even know there were two muscles around the anus that you could work in between.

I was told this would give better chance for the fistula to never form again.

I'm on painkillers but I have to say this is the least painfull of the four surgeries I've had. I can walk, sit on a Un shaped cussion, take sitz baths.

I started taking antidepressants in the process to keep going and I'm even thinking I might be able to go off them in the next month. I wish I was offered the antidepressants sooner in the process as part of the treatment.

It's been a journey but I feel like this could be the beginning of back to normal.
