Got Rosie last September at around 8 months, and with that and that she’s double Merle, it was hard to tell what breed she would have (besides the limited amount of breeds with Merle) I suspected ASD, hound, and maybe some pit her thighs are too think to be anything else 😂), so I wasn’t too far off! (Except the pyr, ha!) Supermutt was GSD and lab. With all these breeds, I would think she’d be bigger— she’s only about 35 lbs. Which is where I get confused.

Rosie was from a double Merle specific rescue in Indiana, but from them and from what the original owners told them/what they gathered, we learned that her and her three littermates were a accidental litter from a farm in Kansas that just let their unfixed dogs run around wherever. Which, makes sense that she’s double Merle and didn’t really having and proper breeding practices (I was relieved at least it wasn’t an unethical breeding operation). One other litter mate was double merle, and the two others weren’t (seen as pups in last pic). After doing embark, we found her brother, River. (a non double Merle) But, from their family trees, they don’t match. Rosie’s has the ASD going on both sides, and River’s only has the ASD mostly on one. And, he is also half MAS. I was just wondering if Rosie is actually partially MAS. Idk how close their DNA in between there are (considering MAS derived from ASD). It would make sense for her size, and would confirm that they are actually littermates. Unless they are just really inbred and were born around the same time 🤷‍♀️

For her personally, she is mostly if not completely deaf and also light sensitive, and if you can tell, her pupils are funky shaped. You can definitely tell she’s deaf bc she will just bark to bark with the other guys at the top of her lungs, almost like a howl (probably the hound popping up lol). She always wants to play or chew something, and does have some herding behavior we’re trying to get in check (mostly nipping). She’s a little much for our other dogs atm, but they’ve been getting more and more used to her now. She follows around my Mal just to see what he’s doing like going to the door when the doorbell rings or when I get home from work, almost like a reluctant big brother! Most importantly, she gives the best cuddles and tries to lick your face off, and overall a sweetheart!

Results in! Not too surprised, but confused
