What is the use-case for two CE (chip enable) inputs on the HPDL-2416 smart display?

My reading of the datasheet didn't help me. I know that both CE signals must be active low to enable the device. Googling the question has given me unsatisfactory AI-generated answers which make no sense (to me, anyway).

The AI answer is that the two inputs allow for cascading the devices. By grounding CE1 on all cascaded devices, and separately controlling CE2 on each device, we can parallel all the other signals and still control each device independently of the others. This is true, but also true with a single CE input on each device. So what is the real purpose of having two chip-enable inputs per device?
