im a 34F diagnosed with periodontal disease 3 weeks ago. I have already had a SRP done 2 weeks ago have noticed shift and wiggling in my teeth especially my lower front teeth. I've always brushed my teeth 2x a day and used mouthwash at night, but never really flossed much unless I got food stuck in between my teeth. oral hygiene was never really talked about growing up and i was never taken to get regular cleanings as a child. i was raised by a single father who had to work alot to provide for us so he never gave it much thought. I have been a long time smoker but am now trying to cut back and quit which has not been easy by no means. my dentist really was no help in telling me which products to use or how severe this disease was, she only told me her main concern was my 2 lower front teeth with severe recession and bone loss. alot of my gum pockets on the sides were 3s and 4s with some 5s but my front teeth had some 7s. I have already book an appointment with a periodontist, so really looking forward to meeting him. my dental hygienist was a absolute sweetheart and said that my teeth can be saved with a bone graft and gum graft. my oral routine has picked up alot now. my main concern is at least keeping my natural teeth for as long as possible.

Morning: 

eat and drink a cup of coffee 

floss with string and interdental floss

waterfloss

mouthwash 

then brush teeth for 2 mins really focusing on the gum line 

Lunch time:

I usually dont eat lunch but I do still floss throughout the day and use xylitol gum and now try to drink plenty of water as well.

Afternoon: 

eat dinner 

floss with string and interdental floss 

water floss (every 3 days I add 3% hydrogen peroxide and water)

brush teeth for 2 mins

and then I use a biotene rinse that helps with dry mouth and has xylitol in it 

I plan to start using probiotics pills and lozenges 

 

I am looking for any and all advice and just honesty about my teeth.

Also I have a little boy who im am now so strict about making sure he brushes and flosses his teeth as well 

so he doesn't have to go through this as well. so any advice for making sure he keeps a good oral hygiene as well would be greatly appreciated.
