Fiber Laser going rogue, adjusting height by itself mid cut

I'm engraving some tumblers on my Gweike 30w fiber with a chuck rotary. Have done dozens... All of a sudden today the laser wants to randomly adjust height mid cut... not at a set time, and not a set distance. Thoughts on what might be triggering this? Have ruined 4 tumblers already.
