How would you rewrite Fallout 3?

My thread on Fallout 4 rewrite had some good thoughts, so I decided to make with this one as well.

Let me start by saying F3 was my first Fallout game, and it holds a special place in my heart.

I particularly like a lot of the locales, like Little Lamplight, Rivet City, a lot of the Vaults, Megaton, Tenpenny Tower... but I always felt F3 was missing some sauce in its writing, particulary in how it relies way too much on the Enclave and Brotherhood from previous games to make its story work.

A lot of the side quest concepts in F3 like Oasis are way more interesting than Project Purity, Liberty Prime is great and all, but the factions just feel so underdeveloped compared to previous/ later games.

I think the resolution with Eden in particular is dumb regardless of how you go about it, Main Quest just isn't that compelling, the schism between the Brotherhood is interesting, but you never really get into it besides Anchorage/ few dialog bits here and there.

So my rewrite notes to start:

Make towns feel more populated/ connected: I know DC got Nuked, but we really never see how a town like Megaton and Rivet City are conected by trade, and F4 and NV both do this very well.

Do more of an active cold war between Lyons BOS and Outcasts- show more of this overall

The goal of Project Purity is nice, but make the characters plot around it more compelling

Less generic Raiders, more specific named gangs and tribes, with distinct cultures

Enclave as an Atagonistic force can work , what with it being DC and all, but make them more interesting, make Eden less stupid, make Autumn questioning Eden's plan actually meaningful.

Huge miss on not making the Children of Atom a compelling faction on to themselves, that you can help grow into the extremist Mega cult on the East Coast by F4.

Make Harold and Oasis more central to the plot and restoring the Capital Wasteland. It's one of the most interesting areas in the game.

The Talon Mercs and Regulators stuff is boring: make them real factions or give their job to an actually interesting group.

Make companions actually have quests and backstories, so you care.

More quests like stealing the Emancipation Proclamation, other artifiacts.

Use more of DC as an area to the creative endeavors of your story, other than just locales: specific factions as well.

Flesh out NPCs/ motives so they aren't just one note weirdos, like Tenpenny/ Mr. Burke etc.

More weird fun writing like Point Lookout, which is my favorite DLC by far and I feel the writing of F3 gets the closest to classic Fallout Goofy but Grim. The Centuries old Shadow War between Ghoul James Bond and his Bond Villain Mad Scientist brain in a jar nemesis is awesome.

That's what I have so far: i loved F3 as a kid, I just want it to have way more spice, and whoever wrote Point Lookout ahould have wrote way more of the game. They get Fallout.

Add what you think!
