Proper Womens Clothing

My boyfriend and I just had a little disagreement about what women should wear.

He told me I "should always wear dresses to church." I've never practiced this. Yes, I wear dresses when I can, if weather permits, etc. I dont see it as a requirement as long as im dressed nice and proper.

He then told me he'd want "his wife to wear dresses or skirts at all times." This shocked me a little because I've asked him this before, and he said he doesn't mind as long as it's outside of church and modest.

I disagreed, I said, "I wouldn't be doing that." While im in my home, I want to be comfortable. I have a lot of farm animals, jeans are the best thing for me when dealing with them. He brought up the fact that the women he just helped live on a farm and wear skirts every day. Im sure he doesn't know that for sure, but he said it.

I said how'd he feel wearing a suit every day, all day, because that's what he wears to church. He said that's different. Women dont wear wedding dresses every day. Which i understood, and he said what would be a stepdown from suits for men. He said jeans and a button-up.

So I said no, a button-up and dress pants/slacks. He told me it's different for men. I dont see exactly how. They're allowed to be comfortable at home, but women can't?

He, also, said that when he sees a woman in a dress, it's more appealing than a woman in pants. So i said, appealing to what? men. And he told me that's not what he meant, and asked if it doesn't catch my eye when a woman wears a dress instead of jeans. I told him, "No, and it shouldn't catch his eye either. Women dont go to church hoping men find them attractive." They go to learn just like everyone else.

I've relented on wearing dresses to church. It makes him happy, and I dont mind wearing them. Wearing them all day, every day is different, tho.
