We Thought Love Ends With Age But Grandma Proved Us All Wrong
My grandma is 82 and still waits near the window every evening at 5 pm. Not for tea. Not for TV. She waits for my grandpa to come back from his slow walk.
One day I asked her, “Why you stand there everyday?” She said, “He walks slower now. I like to see him coming. It makes me calm.”
Last winter he slipped outside. She couldn’t walk properly herself but still tried to run to him. She cried more than he did.
They don’t say “I love you.” They argue about salt in food and volume of TV. But when he coughs at night, she is awake before anyone.
I used to think love is flowers and big surprises.
Now I know, sometimes love is just waiting near a window everyday.
