Will a rooster recover his mojo??
Hello! I have a rooster, who up until very recently, was a pretty nasty guy. He was clearly the head honcho and would periodically attack us.
A couple of months ago, a friend asked if we would take in a bantam rooster they accidentally got with their pullets. He is a very feisty little guy and has confidence way bigger than his actual size. We noticed recently that our nasty rooster was no longer going in his throne spot in the coop and then suddenly wasn't going in his regular coop at all. I thought maybe he was hurting from the extreme cold so I brought him inside for a couple of days. When it warmed up and I put him back out, he wasn't going in any coop at all and I observed our little bantam run him off . The little guy is clearly the king now and my nasty guy has entirely lost his mojo.
Even though he's been a terror, I feel really bad for him! I can touch him now, which is a plus, but I hate to see him so depressed. He's obviously way bigger than our bantam but seems to accept that he's the lowest flock member now. Is he just going to stay like this forever?
For added info, they are free range on a big property. We have lots of hens and multiple coops so he isn't stuck with only one option of places to be and eat.
