[TOMT]Word that starts with F that means initial interaction with something

It sounds French and in my head sounded similar to “soirée” but google is turning up empty. I would use it to mean first time doing/interacting with something. Using it in a sentence I’d say, “it was my first —- into acting”

I’m starting to think I’m crazy. Please help!
