I had technically made a small engine into a... "bomb"... in high school.

I just wanted to share this story, because i still find it funny to this day.

so, I had a shop class on working on small engines in my sophomore year of high school. and all of us were paired up, and assigned an engine to take apart, and put back together. so, me and my partner had taken apart the engine without a hitch.... However.

When it came to putting it back together. We had trouble getting the piston properly set back in, because this little piece of metal called a governor was getting in the way, because the pin that was supposed to hold it in place was 'missing'... And those of you who know what the governor does, the title probably makes a lot more sense now.

For those who don't know, how it was explained to me, was that the governor basically controls the rpm from getting too high. but since it was getting in the way. my partner, who is a major car guy, decided to just... rip it out.

So, with it gone. it was to both of our understanding. That this engine now had no control of speed, and would just speed up indefinitely, until it would either explode, or just tear itself apart violently.

Now, we were supposed to actually test the engines once we were done with them. but a lot of the engines in the class ended up having a lot of missing pieces, so we never ended up testing any of them... which was probably a good thing.
