Started talking to a Muslim girl online — was there attraction or did I misread it?
A few weeks ago I started talking to a girl online (she’s Muslim, although not strictly). From the beginning there was quite a bit of reciprocity: she replied quickly, we talked almost daily, and the conversation flowed really well. It’s true that I usually took more initiative, especially when it came to restarting conversations, but she was always engaged and participative.
I gave her compliments and she responded positively to them. I felt there was good chemistry, so I decided to ask her out. She agreed and we had a pleasant meet-up, although there was no kiss or anything physical.
That same day, while chatting, the topic came up and she told me that she is only open to getting to know Muslim guys in a romantic sense and that she will marry one. (I’m not Muslim.) She told me this respectfully and in a kind way. Basically, she implied that if I interpreted our interaction as romantic, I had misunderstood.
Do you think she was actually attracted to me, or was I reading too much into our interactions?
