Question about blended OT rate at the same employer [NY]

Compensation & Payroll

Currently working an office job that I really like w/ a decent hourly wage. Been here for about 6 months and though it pays well, I’m still looking to get extra money where I can. I would ask HR but I don’t want to mention anything until I’m ready to commit to this immediately.

They have a production warehouse on the same property that is hiring constantly that pays between $17-22 BOE. Everybody working here from the janitor of the warehouse to the VPs make hourly wages and clock in/out everyday. My questions revolve around the logistics of them allowing me to work 10 OT hours at an effective rate of $43/hr for an extremely low skilled role. My back of the napkin math says that a blended wage rate of 40 hrs @ $32/hr + 10 hrs @ $18/hr would be $29/hr and then I’d get 1.5 times $29 for those 10 OT hours ($43/hr). This can’t make sense for them but I’m unsure what other options there are if they let me do this based on NYS labor laws. The guy that runs the warehouse basically told me I can work whatever shifts I want (would have to be weekends or nights so it doesn’t interfere w/ the typical 9-5).

Is there anything I’m missing here? I also read sometimes there are employee/employer separate agreements for this wage in similar circumstances. Based in NYS
