Small opinion
Greetings people. I would like to share with you some thoughts that I have been pondering about the past weeks. The idea here is to take a step backwards, look in ourselves first, our style of playing and how that impacts how we are looking into things. Then ask what Rockstar wanted from us. I will not try and answer, rather I would like that through questions, in hope that it might provoke us to look more critically on the situation.
To start with, I think we have to think about why the spider webs — even by those that noticed them — were not looked at with higher interest, and whether now there is more interest in details, i cant say but it seems so. My assumption is that simply we were not playing the game that Rockstar intended us to play. The fact that they had the courage to put the webs right there in the middle where millions of hours were spent running, makes me think that they had an approximate and arguably a very good assessment on what players do, and just how easy it is to hide things. Practically I feel like a laughing stock for them. OBSERVE, MEDITATE, FEEL should have been the motto. Should have :(
Yes, they played with timing here, but what I think is important is that we were not hanging around and just doing nothing but enjoying the environment, and LISTENING TO THE AMBIENT MUSIC. If we would have done so, we would have noticed the webs. But I think there is a very small number of players that would just hang around and look at poles or trees at night and ponder about the environment. I mean the center web is literally a few meters from the campsite, all one had to do is just hang around, right, easy. Just enjoy the night and look at trees, but obviously this was not what we were doing.
This should make us think about how to think for the future steps - if there are any that have to be taken. I am suggesting that we are not in the same vibe with what they wanted us to be in. I am also thinking about the “looking into the code for verification” thing, and whether it has impacted our state of mind. If I am not mistaken, existence of 8 webs/central web, was done through looking at code. I am wondering whether this hampers our perspective for future investigations. If we would have spent more time searching, would that have made us look more deeply into this, has the fact that info can be found in the code drained the spirit of this mystery and left it just as a technical thing, and how that impacts our perspective.
As I was reading through posts that started this mystery, I read some comments which touched me, as 'here we found spider webs, found the poles, let’s find the next thing'. This thought I think misses the whole point of this mystery — in case there is one — is to think, and think deeply that is, but apart from that also feel the game and feel it more deeply.
Here I would like to say that, from going from such an immaculate spider web entanglement, to deciding after seeing two letters and a symbol that resembles a guitar, and go north west to find a guitar would be ridiculous and completely negating this whole idea of something deeper and more mystic - here the letters in the central web have pulled us down. It is not about going somewhere and finding something, rather I think we have to allow that game show it to us, and this asks that we play in a certain way. If there is a better way of playing, and if there is a better perspective into looking things I would not be able to say, my belief is that we cannot just go somewhere and find a 'something', rather that something with unravel to us if wee seek it passively. That is to say, to ask the ambient for guidance and hope that we can listen to it.
So, looking at us at our game, how we played, what we were searching and how, to what Rockstar knew about us. Here I am arguing that Rockstar knew very well what players do and how we think. This makes me think that we either have to think contrary to how we think and come to the point or we allow ourselves to drown in depths what Rockstar wanted us to feel. And if there is anything to feel, that has to be through ambient sounds and weather, what I consider the pillars of Red Dead Redemption.
So to conclude this, my short opinion, I would suggest that we assume that they wanted us to dwell into depths of their work and subsequently offer us a mysterious experience, the deeper game. Which can be felt if we play slowly - never run, walk, listen, look, think, feel- while allowing for the music and weather to guide us. Hope dies last :)
