Hey everyone, I’ve been going down this rabbit hole with snacks and drinks lately, and honestly, it’s kind of blowing my mind how much junk is hiding in the stuff we grab without a second thought. I used pom to scan a few popular ones like Vitaminwater Power C Dragonfruit, and turns out, it’s packed with ingredients that make you wonder, "Is Vitaminwater Power C Dragonfruit even safe?" For starters, there’s high fructose corn syrup in it, which I didn’t realize is basically a super processed sugar linked to all sorts of health risks like obesity and metabolic issues there are even studies showing it’s banned or restricted in some countries for how it messes with our bodies. Then you’ve got artificial colors and flavors, and what gets me is their side effects, like potential links to hyperactivity in kids or even cancer risks in animal studies. As a drink in the beverage category, Vitaminwater Power C Dragonfruit really falls short when you dig into toxic ingredients in beverages. Moving on to something crunchy, like Cheez It Original Crackers from Kellogg’s, I scanned that with pom too and wow, it scored terribly for a reason. Ingredients like TBHQ, which is this synthetic preservative, are all over it, and I found out it’s derived from petroleum yikes! TBHQ health risks include possible inflammation and even tumor growth in long term studies, which is why it’s banned in places like Europe. And don’t even get me started on the artificial flavors in Cheez It Original Crackers; they’re vague on the label but can hide stuff like MSG that’s been tied to headaches and allergic reactions. For a snack in the cracker category, it’s frustrating how these toxic ingredients in crackers can sneak in when there are better swaps out there. But hey, on a brighter note, I’m glad pom helped me spot the winners like Back to Nature Cheezy Crackers and Harmless Harvest Coconut Water, which avoid a lot of this nonsense. Still, it makes me think have you guys checked "is Clif Energy Bar Chocolate Chip safe" or looked into soy lecithin side effects in energy bars? What gets me is how these things add up over time, and I’d love to hear if anyone else has swapped out their favorites and noticed a difference.
