One thing that’s always bugged me about Pokémon is how little the Pokémon actually feel like companions; the whole series is supposed to be about bonding with these mfs, but in the games they barely feel like living beings.

Outside of battling and a couple of small features, they’re mostly just pawns on a team instead of partners you really connect with.

I’ve always felt like the anime did most of the work when it came to giving them personality, it made them actually expressive.

And then when you play the games you see these beings more lifeless than Oblivion NPC's.

The models are stiff, they lack animations, and there’s barely any interaction with the player or the enviroment, they are statues.

I know this is the coldest take ever, but it still annoys me A LOT, in the older games you could somewhat ignore it but when the newer games are 3D it's kinda impossible.

There are so many designs I genuinely love even in recent titles (despite them being dogshit), and it sucks seeing them like that.

Ya'll are gonna say stuff like "Oh but there are like 800 Pokémon it's too much work!" yeah yeah, they could just remove some, the games are gonna sell well regardless of the quality, having a smaller roster so you can focus on the fucking quality would be better, like that's ever gonna happen with how BW did!

Pokémon themselves barely feel like companions in the games and the anime carries sadly
